Romeo and Juliet – Theatrical Production at Circle In The Square Theatre

The classic Shakespeare tragedy is finally LIVE for only twenty weeks on Broadway. Before you roll your eyes, here us out: it's Romeo + Juliet like you've never seen before. Sam Gold's production is taking "We Are Young" to the extreme in this revival---flirting, peacocking and snits of aggression in a roughly two-hour show. With Heartstopper's Kit Connor and Spielberg's West Side Story's Rachel Zegler as the star-crossed lovers, theater fans will swoon, scream, giggle and cry at Circle in the Square on 11th of December.

Tony Award-winning director Sam Gold had been working on the greatest Shakespeare tragedies for years now, and after a lot of waiting, it's Romeo and Juliet's turn! This time around, the staging will be the busiest and funniest everyone has ever seen.

There's twisty language, expression of twisty thoughts in antiquated words. There's the original tracks by the Grammy Award winner and pop hitmaker Jack Antonoff, who wrote three tracks just for this production. There's dynamic movement by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh, known for her work in Moulin Rouge. There's the nightclub mood in a set filled with design collective dots, inflatable furniture, a shopping cart full of teddy bears in dusky-stroby lighting by Isabella Byrd. There's funky track pants, crop tops and jeans on the cast by Enver Chakartash. For all the ways to show how the youth are f**cked, THIS is the most intoxicating.

In the middle of it all, the highlight of the "buoyant, pared-down, theatre-in-the-round production playing at Broadway’s intimate Circle in the Square" is rising British star Kit Connor, known for his lead role in Heartstopper and trailblazer of her generation Rachel Zegler, known for her role in Spielberg's new adaptation of West Side Story. Their on-stage chemistry is a stand-out and can melt anyone even if they're on the farthest seats from the stage.

Circle in the Square Theater provides a unique and highly immersive experience in the incredible play.
