Brooklyn-based director Sam Gold has cycled through major tragedies via an eight-year exploration on Shakespeare's works. His adaptation on "King Lear," "Hamlet" and "Othello" received critical acclaim and now, we witness his last venture in Shakespearean world, bringing it home to the ever-classic Romeo + Juliet.
“With the presidential election coming up in November, I felt like making a show this fall that celebrates youth and hope, and unleashes the anger young people feel about the world they are inheriting,” Sam Gold says in a statement.
